Tonto Creek Bridge was named 2025 Project of the Year in the Transportation ($5-25 million) category by the Arizona chapter of the American Public Works Association.

At 1,982 feet, the precast concrete girder bridge provides a safe, year-round, all-weather crossing of Tonto Creek. Residents of Tonto Basin were previously dependent on dirt crossings to traverse the creek bed, and whenever the creek flooded, they were cut off from critical services. Eight deaths in the last 25 years were attributed to attempts to cross the swollen creek on foot or in vehicles.

Ames Construction crews overcame several challenges to deliver the bridge on schedule, including limited construction easement, groundwater, and environmental clearance. The bridge opened to traffic in June 2024.
