Ames Construction is performing site development nationwide for mission critical data centers for some of the highest-profile companies in the world.

New Mexico

The scope for this data center project included mass earthwork grading, structural and duct bank excavation, finish grading for the concrete slab-on-grade, and underground utility work.

Ames was challenged to coordinate with the many trades and craft workers on site simultaneously. Proactive communication efforts ensured that everyone worked together efficiently to meet the schedule.

Utah

For this data center, Ames installed utilities, performed structural excavation and backfilling of the structures, built roadways for construction access, and constructed permanent roads for the property. Ames was also tasked with construction of the subcontractor trailer areas and project laydown yards.

Construction of the H-shaped, 970,000-square-foot facility required an aggressive start-up schedule, with multiple subcontractors on the property simultaneously. At peak construction times, as many as 1,000 craftspeople were working on site. Ames built relationships with the other trade workers to foster positive communication and coordination for mutual success.

Southeast U.S.

For data centers in the southeast U.S., Ames crews worked under aggressive schedules to prepare building pads to grade. The early works packages also included the construction of site access roads, stormwater ponds, substations and water tank pads.
