Building Futures, One Student at a Time
Ames Construction and IUOE Local 49 joined forces once again to inspire the next generation of skilled tradespeople. The annual Operating Engineers Pathway event at Ames’ maintenance facility in Rosemount, Minn., lets high schoolers get hands-on with heavy equipment.
The students are part of Local 49’s innovative Pathway program, which connects classroom learning with real-world career opportunities in the construction industry. From climbing into a cab to talking with seasoned operators, they get a glimpse of what their future as an equipment operator could look like.
The Operating Engineers Pathway is free to high schoolers in Minnesota and North Dakota.
