Ames Apprentices Graduate in Utah, Ames’ Todd Allred Is Honored, and Ames Construction Is Named Employer of the Year

Ames Construction apprentices graduated from the Operating Engineers Local 3 Apprenticeship Program at a ceremony in Salt Lake City, Utah, in May.

Also at the graduation ceremony, Ames Shop Foreman Todd Allred was honored with the 2025 Outstanding Supervisor Award, and Ames was named 2025 Outstanding Employer.  

At the ceremony, 18 apprentice equipment operators, maintenance technicians, and crane operators graduated from the 4-year program to become journeymen. The Ames graduates are:

• Ethan Fowles
• Miguel Garcia
• Hesston Hutchings
• Shane Martinez
• Ivan Montes
• Cody Williams

Adding to the celebration, Shane Martinez was recognized with the program’s Excel Award, and Ethan Fowles received the Iron Man Award.

The Outstanding Supervisor Award recognized Allred for his efforts in hiring and mentoring apprentices in Ames’ Utah shop. Allred is supported by Area Equipment Manager Jim Smith, a past recipient of the Outstanding Supervisor Award. Jim participates in the heavy-duty repair subcommittee to steer the maintenance training programs.
