Alejandro “Hondo” Martinez Promoted to Foreman
Congratulations to Alejandro “Hondo” Martinez, Ames Construction’s latest Foreman in Training (FIT) graduate, and thank you to his mentors, Project Superintendent Hank Chaddock and other members of Ames’ pipe division!
Hondo joined Ames in 2018, and he entered the FIT program in April 2024. He and his crew specialize in HDPE fusion and installation across mining operations in Arizona. His experience includes work on corridors, pump stations, and leach pad piping. Most recently, Hondo’s team successfully installed and tested a heated raff gas line.
Throughout these projects, Hondo demonstrated strong leadership by navigating complex challenges, appropriately exercising Stop Work Authority, and consistently aligning operations to Ames’ safety practices.
Through strategic planning and pre-activity planning in collaboration with management, Hondo executed multiple critical shutdowns safely and without deviation. His commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence reflects the goals of the FIT program and the values of Ames Construction.
Hondo often reminds peers who are considering growth opportunities with a quote from comedian and actor Kevin Hart: “At the end of the day, you put all the work in, and eventually it’ll pay off. It could be in a year; it could be in 30 years. Eventually, your hard work will pay off.”
His journey is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to step outside your comfort zone and grow into a leader.
