The Sevier Bridge Dam Rehabilitation project in Utah was named the 2025 National Rehabilitation Project of the Year by the Association of State Dam Safety Officials.

The award recognizes developers of a unique remedial design that advances the field of dam safety and exemplifies the high professional engineering standards that dam safety requires.

The original Sevier Bridge Dam spillway dated to 1916. Ames Construction performed a complete replacement, bringing the dam up to modern safety standards, enhancing its capacity to endure drought periods, and fortifying it against potential seismic events. The dam is vital to agriculture, power generation, and recreation in Utah.

Project scope included intricate structural concrete work, the installation of stainless-steel slide gates and a new hydraulic powering unit, a filter drain system, earth removal, placement of stone columns, and strategic structural fill.

“Confronted with weather uncertainties, workspace limitations, and formidable bedrock conditions, the team’s commitment to delivering a resilient and high-quality project remained steadfast,” says Ames Project Manager Stan Raass.
