Women in Construction Week Spotlight: Lynette Smith
Ames Construction is proud to celebrate the extraordinary women on our team during Women in Construction Week—and every day of the year!
As we celebrate WIC Week and Women’s History Month, we’ll shine a spotlight on some of the women who contribute to the present and future of Ames and the entire heavy civil and industrial construction industry.

→ What advice would you give women looking to join the construction industry?
My situation is a bit different because I work at our corporate office. Construction is an amazing industry to be involved in. Always changing and a lot to learn.
→ How can the construction industry attract more female candidates?
There is so much potential out there for any woman wanting to enter the trades. My advice is to work hard and enjoy your job.
→ Do you believe that women are given the same opportunities for career growth as men? If not, what changes would you like to see, and how quickly would you expect change to occur?
I believe women are treated fairly at Ames. There are many women who work in our office as well as in the field. There is great opportunity for growth with Ames Construction, and great training available too.
