Women in Construction Week Spotlight: Careli Morales

Ames Construction is proud to celebrate the extraordinary women on our team during Women in Construction Week—and every day of the year!

As we celebrate WIC Week and Women’s History Month, we’ll shine a spotlight on some of the women who contribute to the present and future of Ames and the entire heavy civil and industrial construction industry.

→ What advice would you give women looking to join the construction industry?

Go for it! It’s a great industry with so many opportunities and great benefits. We’re powerful and we can do it!

→ What has been the most memorable moment in your career?

I’ve been in construction for four years, all at Ames, and all of them have been memorable. Starting from being a laborer to becoming an operator and now learning how to operate batch plants. It has been amazing learning so many new things. I never thought that I was going to thrive like I have in this industry. It has been great!

→ Do you believe women are given the same opportunities for career growth as men?

In my experience at Ames, I have been given many opportunities. As long as you work hard and show that you want to learn, you will have opportunities to grow, man or woman.
